BOTANICAL GARDEN GROUND

Botanical Garden spreads over the area of about 5 ha and in addition to open grounds, .
it contains  a greenhouse, herbarium, library, lecture halls, laboratories and administration buildings of the Institute of Botany

The greenhouse, built in 1892, extends over the area of 500 m2. It consists of two wings connected by the central dome. At the time of its construction it was one of the largest and most beautiful greenhouses in this part of Europe. It was bought from Dresden firm ”Mozetin” and today it is the decoration of both the institution it is situated in and the town it belongs to.

In the open ground of the Botanical Garden there are more than 300 species of trees and scrubs and more than 700 herbaceous species of native, European and exotic plants. Tropic and subtropic plants, grown in the greenhouse, are estimated to number almost 1,000 species.
